Hi everyone!
Since January, I have really be focusing on cleaning and organizing as most of you already know. So, I have undecorated areas in my home right now. How weird is that! I took the Christmas stuff down and enjoyed the minimalistic look. And then I just forgot about it.
Since my attention has been on other areas, I realized I am actually stumped at what I want to put on my empty shelves! That never happens to me! I am usually changing out the décor on my shelves every month or so. That is the fun part about thrifting and using those new finds to create a new look in my home.
Oh wait! I haven’t been thrifting! I have picked up some after Christmas clearance things but, that has been it! I haven’t been to any thrift stores in 2012! Whoa! With all the organizing and purging going on here the last thing I wanted to do is to bring more stuff into the house to deal with!
So, I decided to at least add some items to my shelf in the dining room that I have on hand. Adding a little pink gives it a bit of a Valentine feel.
I think one of the really fun things with Valentine’s Day is it gives you an excuse to add a little girly to your décor. So, with a grand total of $3.00 spent at the Dollar Tree, I gave it a little Valentine update.
A little pink tucked here and there.
A few hearts here and there.
The two round diamond cut mercury glass candle holders are from CTS, clearanced to .50 cents each after Christmas. The deep wine and one off white flower heads were clearanced for .25 cents each at a local hardware store (they have clips on the backs of them). The other 2 mercury glass pieces were clearanced at the Home Goods store. And the large glass candle holder was clearanced from TJM. The ribbon, small pink roses and plastic pink hearts all from The Dollar Tree.
Just some soft sweet touches.
All the candles are from after Christmas clearance sales as well.
I hope everyone has a sweet Valentine’s Day!
I will probably leave this shelf as it is for awhile. Just take out the red and pink and add a little green for next month’s St. Paddy’s day. Right now for me, it’s about staying on track and keeping the rest of my life simple.

I too have not done much thrifting lately but want to add a touch of decorations for Valentines Day, I will have to shop the house. I hope to share the couple of things I have stumbled on while thrifting soon. I think your shelf looks wonderful and your thrifty finds have inspired me to do just a little decorating.
ReplyDeleteOh my, how lovely. I like the touch of pink, so pretty. Hugs, marty
ReplyDeleteLovely shelf. Very romantic. Hard to believe it's already Valentines. It's just flown by.
ReplyDeleteOne of your candle holders there on your shelf so reminds me of an old perfume bottle that I've held onto for years. It was so pretty I couldn't part with it. Now I'm thinking there is a new way to use it. I'll have to see if any of the candles I have will fit in the opening...I'll add a little ribbon and have a brand new to me candle holder. Thanks for the inspiration today! Why buy anything new when we already have something that will work. Hope your Friday is a fantastic one!
ReplyDeleteHaha- I JUST walked in the door from thrifting. Um, ok I filled the cart today - been a while - had a blast, such wonderful deals. Wasn't sure it would all fit in my Mini Cooper! But it did!! YAY!
ReplyDeleteYou did a very pretty and frugal mantle. Um, well mantles themselves can't be frugal, but you know what I mean.
WELL DONE on a super awesome budget.
It just takes a few touches to really make a difference! Love the pink and red and of course you are always so thrifty! Hugs, Linda

ReplyDeleteHi Diane Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pink share for Valentine's Day.
I simply love the little touches that you added
to your mantel. It looks so fresh and feminine.
I love it.
Your mercury glass is so pretty. Every time I see
a piece clearanced, I grab it right up. I now have
silver, pinkish purple, red and even blue pieces.
It is so pretty.
I can't believe you haven't been thrifting this year.
You must have passed the bug on to me. I am trying to
fill in places that I was going to fill years ago.
Finally making some changes.
Have a beautiful Valentine's Day sweetie. Many hugs
and much love, Sherry
So pretty Diann. It's been way too long since I stopped by to see your pretty creations. I am in love with mercury glass, and what bargains you got on your beauties! I want to go to a hardware store that sells pretty faux flowers like that! Thank you so much for linking to the party at my place! laurie
ReplyDeleteI too have spent a lot of January cleaning up and clearing out, but I haven't hit empty shelves. I love how you filled them. Why don't you link your post to Seasonal Sundays?
