Purple~Violets, Iris and Pansy Tea

Hi everyone!

I showed you the wonderful surprise box of teacups I got from my friend Heidi. Well, today I am featuring the sweet violet teacup. Y’all know that purple is my favorite color so, this teacup brings a smile to my face!

Here is our tea for today.

purple tea 001I love this creamy white teapot. Troy got it for me for Christmas a couple of years ago. It gets used a lot by me for my nightly tea.

purple tea 002I bought this little bell jar with irises in Toronto years ago when my mom and I took a train to Toronto and had a long weekend to see Phantom of the Opera.  Of course, we also shopped and ate……a lot! It was a wonderful trip and we have some great memories!

purple tea 003purple tea 004I am using my miniature violet teacup. I have the saucer and matching teapot. The creamer is not from the set. I found it at a yard sale this past summer. But, they match wonderfully.

purple tea 005 purple tea 006 How about a little pie with your tea today?

purple tea 007 I am using a pretty purple pansy hankie over my tray.

I used one of my Johnson Bros. ironstone saucers with a pretty purple felt coaster.

purple tea 013I was excited to get some seeds we ordered . I ordered several edible flower seed packs and a couple flowers to plant a small moonlight garden. Oh, I can’t wait until Spring!!

“So…….a Needle Pulling Thread……”

Hi everyone!

If you do any kind of sewing or embroidery, you know how expensive notions are. I definitely watch for major sales and use 50% off coupons whenever I get the chance but, full retail on all these things? Major budget destroyers! So, besides all my dishes and other thrifty treasures, I am always checking out the crafts and notions areas of my favorite thrift stores. I like to keep a nice stock of these items.

I have a sewing box that I got as a present from my mom about 20 years ago but, one sewing box is not enough. I need a different one to keep things like embroider supplies in. So, when I spotted this blue decent size sewing box in really good condition for $3.00, I snapped it up. If you haven’t priced sewing boxes in awhile, take your blood pressure medicine before you go looking at them! LOL They are expensive.

This one will hold my doodads.

Embroidery floss. you need to really watch for the sales and stock up if you use a lot of it. I found these at the thrift store priced at .79 cents a package. But, I bought them on the half off day so paid .40 cents a pack.

Feb 2011 bargains 119  When I was looking at the floss, a gentleman came over and handed me this bag filled with odds and ends notions. He said he just packaged it up and it is $3.99 but, today I could get it for half off. Into my cart they went!

I never realized JCP sold thread and notions. But, I guess if they sold sewing machines they would have a notions department as well.

Menu Plan Monday

Hi everyone!

It is time to plan our menu for the week. Friday night, being the party animal that I am, I spent reading magazines, new cookbooks and some herbal books.

Spring is fast approaching and I want to try and develop some new herb products for our herbal business. I am the “Health and Beauty” department of our herb business. Hopefully I won’t mix up my herbal concoction recipes and my meal planning recipes! LOL

misc 036I went through the AllYou magazine to see if I could find any coupons I might want.

misc 035I decided to go through a new cookbook that I haven’t had time to go through. I bought it at the Christmas Tree Shops. I made most of this week’s menu from this casserole cookbook. I will be making a lot of new to me recipes. Oh boy! A week of new food adventure. LOL

misc 034  I had also bought another cookbook at the same time I got the casserole cookbook. This one is from the crew at the Today Show. I found a dessert recipe in there that I want to modify to make it sugar free. I’ll let ya know how that turns out!

misc 037Okay, on to what I decided to make this week:

MONDAY:

“Italian Bake”

Salad

Garlic Bread

Coconut Pudding

TUESDAY:

“Delightful Chicken Soufflé”

“Glory Potatoes”

Fresh Cucumber Salad

Jello Fruit Parfaits

WEDNESDAY:

“Meatball Casserole”

Corn

Applesauce

THURSDAY:

“Round Steak Bake”

“Not Just Buttered Rice”

Fresh Fruit Salad

FRIDAY:

Tonight we are going to have finger foods. We need to try out some of our new herb dip blends. (veggie dips, bread oil dips and a couple of other things)

SATURDAY:

Out To Dinner!

Time to Start Adding a Little Green!

Hi everyone!

Well, it is approaching St. Patrick's Day so, I thought it was time to start doing a little re-decorating here and there. I decided to change out my white soup tureen from the Valentine’s day flower arrangement.

This was my tureen before the redo:

rose tea 002 rose tea 004 Out came the roses and ribbon. I chose to use faux daisies this time around. I thought they would work nice for Spring.

St. Paddys day 2011 001 Okay, now to add a little Luck of the Irish to the arrangement.

St. Paddys day 2011 002 I really like the little glittered gold shamrock picks. Now, don’t mind the fact that the shamrocks are so flat. They just came out of the package and they were pressed flat. I need to give them a little time to relax before I fluff this arrangement.

St. Paddys day 2011 003 Like I said before, I am trying to use mostly what I have on hand. I did go to the Dollar store and picked up a couple of things (under my $5.00 limit!). I used a white linen that, although you can’t see it in the picture, has a daisy print on it and I used a dark green linen napkin as well. I also grabbed my gold vanilla votives . Th white linens I got thrifting for $1.00 for the four of them. The green linens I got on clearanced at The Christmas Tree Store last year for .29 cents each.

St. Paddys day 2011 004 St. Paddys day 2011 005 Now it just needs a little bit of glitz!

St. Paddys day 2011 007 I love to grab one of these roping for each of the holidays. I cut it up and use it in multiple places. And I added my two faux silver and gold mercury candle holders.

St. Paddys day 2011 021 Just a small simple bit of green on this side table. But, it is a start! Have you started adding little St. Paddy’s Day accents to your home yet?

Revisit~A Wee Little Cloche

Hi everyone! Today is Sunday Favorites over at Miss Chari's place. This is a day to revisit and old post. I thought I would share a little St. Patrick's Day decor from last year! I hope you enjoy and have a wonderful day!

My Wee bit of a cloche is just a little St. Patty's Day decoration.

This is the smallest cloche I have ever seen. It is really tiny. I found it for $1.00 at Goodwill. I decided I wanted to make a little St. Patrick's Day decoration out of it.

So, with the tiny cloche ready, I needed a little pedestal. I figured that it should be something that could be used later as well. So, I decided to use a white candle in a jar from the dollar store. It was just the right size.

Then I grabbed a little swirly designed saucer

I sprinkled a little shamrock confetti.

I removed the little leprechaun from the pick stick and placed him under the cloche and popped the carnations off the stems and made a little ring around the base.

And now we have a "Wee Bit of a Cloche".
