Pink Saturday

Wow, I am doing a pink post! It has been awhile since I joined Beverly for Pink Saturday. When you have some time, go over and check out some fun and pretty pinks being shown today!

I have a couple of little thrifty finds to show you. I recently found this pretty little platter at SA. It is a Homer Laughlin piece. I'm not sure what the design name is.

I picked up a couple of just pretty little candle holders with roses on them.

Awhile back at my last visit to the flea market, they allowed some folks to set up tables outside and sell their wares. I found several good bargains among these tables and one of them was this lamp base.

This lamp was in a large box with a bunch of misc. other items. To be honest, I am shocked it wasn't broke because it was just tossed in there among cast iron pieces, ceramic things, steel clamps, just a big mish-mosh of stuff. I have no idea why someone put it in there. It seemed totally out of place. But, the sign on the box said, "Everything in the box, $1.00 each". It didn't have a lampshade, just the base.

Isn't it pretty? It is a pretty decent size. I have been thinking of redoing our upstairs bathroom in pink (Shhhh, don't tell Troy!) and I always have a lamp in the bathroom. I know, I'm odd. But, it just gives you a soft glow of light so when you go in there in the middle of the night, you don't have to turn on the light but, you can still see without blinding yourself with the regular bright bathroom light.

A Favorite ~ Home Town Parades

Hey everyone! It's time to join Laurie for A Few of my Favorite Things party!

Instead of showing you items around my home today, I am sharing some pictures from last weekends Maple Syrup Festival Parade!

Little community parades are so much fun. Half of the folks that live in the town are in the parade. Every little kid in the community walks the stretch of the parade route maybe wearing a costume or just a t-shirt with their church name on it. It's just a lot of fun.

So, we found the perfect corner to put our chairs. It was drizzling, windy and pretty cold. We brought our blankets and a hot drink and waited for the fun to begin!

First, you always start out with flags!

Then, Emergency vehicles.

Of course the Grand Marshall!

And the Queens Court of the Maple Syrup festival.

And what better time to show off your classic cars!

A church float is needed!

No idea who this guy was but, apparently a dark mysterious rider on a horse is a special edition to a local parade! It keeps the suspense to an all time high!

And let's face, no parade is complete with out someone driving their semi hauling some kind of big equipment behind it!

And folks dressed in costumes is a must! I mean, come on folks, we're talking Barney and Elmo here!

Let's not forget a frog driving a little truck!

And the local high school marching band!

And then not to be out done by the classic cars, you have your antique cars!

And the real reason to be at the parade....to fill a pillow case of candy thrown to you!! Yup, that's our princess picking up her fair share!

And once the parade is over everyone heads to the local high school for the main attraction of the Maple Syrup festival!!

Show and Tell Friday

Hi everyone! Time for another Show and Tell Friday!

Today is just a small little treasure finding Show and Tell for me.

I picked up a set of large and small round glasses. I thought they would be a fun change from time to time. They are etched with 3 wheat stalks.

Okay, like I need one more set of all white creamer and sugar dishes!! It is so time to open an Etsy store! LOL. Anyway, a little milk creamer and sugar. They have kind of a basket weave to them.

Okay, I know this is going to come as a huge shock to you but, I love to find unusual dishes! I know...SHOCKED right? LOL I found these two little divided canape plates recently. I have never seen any like them and the markings on the back just confuse me. They were made in Italy and that is pretty much all I can tell you about them.

And these two little dishes will be used for butter pats. They are very delicate white porcelain with gold around the edges.

White and Red Treasure Finds

Yes, I should be canning tomatoes right now, but geez, it has been almost a week since I joined any parties! So, I decided to take a few pictures of some of the treasures I got. And they fit perfectly with White Wednesday and Rednesday!

So check out these two wonderful parties when out get the chance!

Please ignore the quick staging of these items and I haven't had a chance to even clean them yet. I just wanted to show them to you and didn't take the time to plan ahead. LOL

I found this large white Ironstone pitcher. It has a fruit motif on it. One side, Pineapple and the other a pear and other fruit. I love the size and it will be a great pitcher to use for ice water or iced tea.

If you remember, a week or so ago I posted about how hard it is to find yellow dishes or serving items. Well, see what happens! As soon as you post it out there for the world to see, I find a couple of yellow serving dishes! Hummmm, maybe my next post should be about not finding any money anywhere!! LOL

This is an Ironstone serving bowl and platter set. I love the daffodil design around the edges.

Here are two salad size plates. I really liked the designs and the dark green lattice. They will mix and match with several dinner plates I have.

This is a pretty Fitz and Floyd rose canape plate. It has a few chips, but I still liked it enough to get it.

I have to say, I thought about Sue over at It's a Very Cherry World when I saw these fruit design plates. One feature cherries on it. I think this is a fun set and will mix and match with many solid color plates.

So, those were my treasures from that thrifting adventure. Now, here is the important part. I went to this secondhand store with ONLY ten dollars in my wallet...no credit cards or checkbook! Just a ten dollar bill. I purchased everything you see on this post and left with .56 cents in my pocket!! I would have went over my ten dollar budget but, I talked the lady into throwing in the Fitz and Floyd rose plate for free and reducing the price on the pitcher a little bit. I was very happy with my deals!
