Okay, what is it?
I have never seen this bundt type crockery before. I picked it up for $2.50. It is a nice size piece, rather heavy and is in perfect condition. I am just not sure what it is called or used for. I just really liked it! I realize having the funnel-like open center is going to cook things a bit differently.
So, My question is to all of you.....Do you know what this is called and what it is used for?

Tasty Thriftiness - Thyme
This week, Troy at I Refuse To Recede talks about the herb Thyme.
Lemon Thyme was one of the first herbs I ever planted and experimented with. I found that Thyme can pretty much be worked into almost any recipe. It has an awesome smell and is great to just simmer on the back burner and scent your home.
I haven't tried this yet but, they say if you brew a cup of thyme tea then put it into a plant mister and spray around your doorways and windows, it will help keep insects away. It is a natural insect repellent.
Thyme is one of the most important herbs in a Bouquet Garni.
Bouquet Garni is a classic herb mixture used in cooking meats and vegetables. Traditionally, this mixture is tied up in cheesecloth for easy removal after flavoring.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
•1/4 cup dried parsley (classic ingredient)
•2 Tablespoons dried thyme (classic ingredient)
•2 Tablespoons dried bay leaf (classic ingredient)
•2 Tablespoons dried rosemary (optional ingredient)
Preparation:
Combine parsley, thyme, bay leaf, and rosemary in a bowl. Place in an airtight container. Store in a cool, dark place away from heat sources. Use within 6 months.
Bouquet garni is good with meats and vegetables. Traditionally, this mixture is tied up in cheesecloth for easy removal after flavoring.
Yield: about 1/2 cup
Also this wonderful herb is the main ingredient in the expensive Benedictine liqueur
Thyme honey is a gourmet delight. The Greeks use a lot of thyme honey. The bees produce this lovely nectar from fields of wild thyme and flowers.
Try this recipe:
Honey and thyme marry beautifully with figs atop Gorgonzola toasts.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
•1/4 cup mild or medium-strength honey, such as clover or blackberry
•6 (3-inch) sprigs fresh English thyme
•12 large ripe figs
•2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing
•2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
•1 best-quality artisan-style baguette
•6 ounces Gorgonzola cheese, at room temperature
Preparation:
Simmer honey in small saucepan, and add thyme sprigs. Let cool for 15 minutes or more while grilling the figs and bread.
Start a charcoal fire in an outdoor grill or preheat a gas grill. Cut figs in half, and toss them in a small bowl with 2 teaspoons olive oil and thyme leaves. Set grill rack 4 inches from fire. When the charcoal is ashed over and glowing, or the gas grill is medium-hot, grill figs quickly until they are heated through but not collapsed, 1 to 2 minutes on each side. Transfer to a platter.
Cut 24 1/2-inch-thick slices from the bread, and brush both sides lightly with olive oil. Toast bread on both sides on the grill away from direct heat. Spread Gorgonzola cheese on toast, and top with figs.
Remove thyme sprigs from honey with a fork and discard, then drizzle honey over figs and toast slices. Serve at once.
Yield: 8 to 12 servings
